Our client, a leading regional firm recognised for its full range of legal services for individuals and businesses, are seeking a qualified solicitor/CILEX to join their growing WTP (Post-Death) team. The ideal candidate will be NQ-3 years PQE, and either hold a STEP membership or be keen to work towards this accreditation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Some taking of instructions and preparation of Wills, LPAs and general PoAs.
- Workload will predominately involve Probate and administration of estates, from the basic (below IHT threshold) to the more valuable/taxable estates involving IHT400’s.
- Ability to administer estates where the deceased has died intestate and a good understanding of the intestacy rules and procedures.
- Understanding of trusts and basic principles of tax affecting trusts upon creation and during the lifetime of the trust
- Basic understanding of the set up and administration of Life Interest trusts and Discretionary trusts following a death where such trusts are to be found in a deceased Will
- Awareness and experience of issues affecting the older client in particular and understanding the Court of Protection and Deputy ship work
Requirements:
- NQ-3 years PQE (Solicitor of CILEX).
- STEP membership is highly desirable, but not essential.
- Good team player, self-sufficient, and self-supporting.
- Ability to deal with clients from a broad demographic from the more modest to the high net worth.
- Willingness to get to get involved in networking and business development activities where the opportunity presents itself and be a great ambassador for the hiring firm, in general.
- Awareness of opportunities to cross-refer work within the department and also to other departments within the firm.
- Ability to work calmly and methodically under pressure.
- Car owner beneficial.
