Background:

Our clients team is a fast-paced and dynamic one, dealing with a wide variety of personal injury and clinical negligence claims. The personal injury claims cover a broad spectrum, including road traffic accidents, employer’s liability, public liability, accidents abroad, abuse claims, and applications to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA). The clinical negligence side of the practice covers cases involving GPs, Hospital Trusts, dentists, and private clinicians.

Role:

Themis Recruit are seeking an experienced Solicitor to handle a caseload of both personal injury and clinical negligence claims on behalf of claimants. This is a full-time position where you will manage cases in accordance with the relevant protocols and Civil Procedure Rules. The ideal candidate should be capable of independently managing cases from the initial client meeting through to settlement of damages and costs, under the supervision of the Head of the Department.

We are looking for a solicitor with a ‘client-first’ approach, capable of thriving in a busy, close-knit team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Head of Team, the role will involve the following responsibilities:

  • Establishing and maintaining excellent client relationships, handling sensitive information, and providing difficult advice when necessary.
  • Conducting cases with a commercial understanding and ensuring effective management.
  • Demonstrating excellent organisational skills, the ability to prioritise tasks, and initiative.
  • Accepting instructions from new clients and providing clear, written advice in compliance with the Law Society’s practice requirements.
  • Advising on funding options for claims, and arranging necessary funding.
  • Providing high-quality, specialist advice to clients throughout the course of the case.
  • Managing all necessary case preparation, including liaising with opponents, their representatives, ATE providers, investigating liability, obtaining expert evidence, instructing and liaising with Counsel where required, and preparing documents for Court if litigation is pursued.
  • Drafting witness statements, instructing and liaising with expert witnesses, conducting client meetings, and drafting letters of advice.
  • Managing costs at the conclusion of the case in conjunction with the costs draftsman, including assessing success fees in line with funding arrangements while considering the commercial aspects of the case.

In-House Requirements:

  • Adhering to office policies and procedures as outlined in the company manual.
  • Complying with in-house billing and financial requirements.
  • Accurately recording time spent on matters.
  • Meeting financial targets and managing client accounts.
  • Engaging with the team in business development activities to promote the company, maintain its reputation, and attract new clients.
  • Participating in networking events and promoting business development where necessary.
  • Engaging in departmental meetings and collaborating with colleagues.
  • Maintaining continuous professional development (CPD) and staying up-to-date with developments in personal injury and clinical negligence law.
  • Keeping a record of all training undertaken to ensure ongoing professional growth.
