The Role
Themis Recruit are seeking a Solicitor to join our clients highly regarded Housing Department. You will manage a varied caseload, including traditional tenant housing matters such as possession, disrepair, and homelessness, with the opportunity to develop experience in building defects cases.
This role is ideal for candidates with 0–5 years’ PQE, though applications from more experienced solicitors are also welcomed.
For over 50 years, our client has provided expert housing advice and representation to tenants. The successful candidate will support this work, acting for both individuals and organisations (including the Official Solicitor) under legal aid and private funding arrangements.
Key Responsibilities

Manage a caseload covering a range of housing law matters.

Provide high-quality advice and representation to clients.

Conduct advocacy where appropriate.

Engage in business development and promote the team’s work.

Work efficiently and cost-effectively, maintaining accurate time records.
Essential Skills and Experience

Qualified Solicitor with solid knowledge and experience of housing law.

Strong negotiation, written, and verbal communication skills.

Proven ability to manage caseloads efficiently and meet deadlines.

Familiarity with legal aid work and funding processes.

Competent use of IT systems and time recording software.

Strong understanding of the professional and ethical obligations of a solicitor.
Desirable Skills and Experience

Excellent interpersonal skills and client care.

Good research and document analysis abilities.

Experience with building defects claims (e.g. under section 1 of the Defective Premises Act 1972).

Knowledge of Court of Protection, Mental Capacity Act, and/or Community Care matters.
