The Role

Due to continued success, Themis Recruit are currently seeking a Solicitor (NQ – 5 years PQE) to join our clients growing Civil Actions Against the Police department. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a specialist team handling high-profile and meaningful work.

In this role, you’ll manage your own caseload involving claims against the police and public bodies. Typical matters include unlawful arrest, false imprisonment, breaches of human rights, malicious prosecution, misfeasance in public office, and judicial reviews. A strong litigation background is essential, as you will be working on predominantly multi-track cases and civil jury trials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a varied caseload of civil actions against the police from inception to resolution

  • Provide clients with expert legal advice and conduct detailed legal research

  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings and witness statements

  • Negotiate settlements and represent clients at court where required

  • Work efficiently within a target-driven, fast-paced environment

  • Collaborate with colleagues to deliver successful case outcomes

  • Stay current with changes in law and relevant regulations

Person Specification

  • Qualified solicitor with active practicing certificate

  • Solid understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) and pre-action disclosure

  • Experience in multi-track litigation and trials with Counsel preferred

  • Strong client care skills and commitment to high-quality service

  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Proficient in legal research and confident using case management systems (e.g. Proclaim)

  • Excellent IT and communication skills
