Our client, a top 100 firm, are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Risk Lawyer to join our team in a newly created role, focused on managing Professional Indemnity processes. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the ambitious growth plan our client is working towards.

The Role:

As a Senior Risk Lawyer, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end professional indemnity claims process. This includes providing legal advice, conducting legal analysis, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. The role offers flexibility, allowing you to work remotely or choose from our office locations in Southampton, Guildford, Woking, or Richmond.

Key Responsibilities:

Claims Management:

  • Oversee the professional indemnity claims process from initiation to resolution.
  • Advise on the merits of potential/actual claims, collaborating with internal and external parties.
  • Draft claims notifications to insurers and maintain up-to-date claims database entries.

Legal Analysis and Drafting:

  • Conduct legal analysis and research to assess the validity of claims and potential legal risk.
  • Provide legal opinions and recommendations to management for claim resolution.

Litigation Support:

  • Collaborate with external legal counsel and insurers, guiding legal strategy and ensuring effective representation in litigation matters.

Risk Mitigation:

  • Lead root cause analysis and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Prepare and present management reports on claims provision.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of claims and claims management information.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments impacting claims management.
  • Assist with inquiries from regulatory bodies and lead compliance investigations and projects as required.

About You:

  • Qualified solicitor with extensive experience in Risk and Professional Indemnity claims.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to provide impartial advice.
  • Familiarity with claims management systems, such as VinciWorks Omnitrack or Access.
  • Senior Associate level or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent IT skills.
