The Opportunity
Themis Recruit are working with a leading UK law firm that offers a unique, highly flexible opportunity for experienced employment lawyers to join a supportive, innovative team. This is an ideal role for senior lawyers who want to continue doing high-quality work while enjoying exceptional flexibility around when, where, and how they work.
You’ll join a dual-service team providing:
-
Interim in-house legal support via client secondments, and
-
Fixed-fee employment advisory and litigation services through a dedicated employment helpline.
The team is known for its collaborative culture, lack of fee targets, and freedom from traditional law firm pressures like billing, business development, or article writing.
Key Highlights
-
Permanent employment with a stable salary and access to a full benefits package
-
No billing targets or business development requirements
-
Complete flexibility to work from home, part-time, or take breaks between assignments
-
Wide variety of work including helpline advice, Employment Tribunal litigation, and secondments to major clients
-
All necessary home office IT setup provided
-
Inclusion in all firm training, social events, and professional development opportunities
-
Clients include major multinationals in tech, media, retail, financial and professional services
What We’re Looking For
-
UK qualified employment lawyers with at least 6 years’ post-qualification experience
-
Strong UK employment law expertise and up-to-date legal knowledge
-
Excellent client-handling and communication skills
-
Previous in-house or Employee Relations experience is useful but not essential
-
Comfortable with Microsoft Office and working remotely
Current Priorities (as of early 2025):
We’re particularly interested in lawyers with experience managing volume Employment Tribunal claims and/or those open to in-house secondments. Many secondments require 2–3 days per week of office attendance, often in London.

-
Genuine work-life balance
-
A permanent role without the pressure of traditional private practice
-
Flexibility due to personal, family, or lifestyle reasons
