Themis Recruit is instructed on behalf of a highly regarded national claimant law firm seeking a Senior Clinical Negligence Lawyer to join its established North West team.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-resourced and collaborative clinical negligence department handling a broad range of high-quality, multi-track matters. The firm offers flexible hybrid working and a genuine commitment to long-term career development.

The Role

You will manage a caseload of clinical negligence claims from initial instruction through to settlement or trial, supported by experienced paralegals and specialist colleagues.

The caseload will include a wide range of multi-track matters, from misdiagnosis claims to complex, high-value cases involving brain, spinal, and birth injuries, often requiring detailed rehabilitation and quantum evidence.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Running cases independently from instruction to resolution

  • Conducting evidence gathering and liability investigations

  • Instructing counsel and medical experts

  • Attending conferences with counsel and experts

  • Managing JSMs and other forms of ADR

  • Progressing cases to trial, including split trials where appropriate

  • Forecasting profit costs and liaising with in-house costs teams on recovery

  • Acting for both private clients and Trade Union members

  • Delivering exceptional standards of client care, particularly when supporting vulnerable clients

The Ideal Candidate

Applications are welcomed from qualified Solicitors or Legal Executives with up-to-date knowledge of clinical negligence law and civil litigation procedure. Candidates across a range of PQE levels will be considered, provided they demonstrate strong technical capability within this specialist area.

You will demonstrate:

  • Proven experience handling clinical negligence matters

  • Excellent communication and client care skills

  • The ability to empathise with vulnerable clients

  • Strong drafting and analytical skills, with the ability to construct clear and persuasive arguments

  • A collaborative mindset and interest in business development activity

For more senior candidates, accreditation with the Law Society, AVMA, or other relevant professional bodies would be advantageous.

The Opportunity

The firm offers structured development and clear progression pathways. Lawyers earlier in their careers will have the opportunity to co-work complex matters with senior colleagues, while more experienced practitioners will benefit from autonomy and leadership opportunities.

The benefits package includes:

  • £4,500 car allowance

  • 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays

  • Additional 5 days’ leave over the Christmas period

  • Contributory pension scheme

  • Permanent health insurance

  • Healthcare Cash Plan

  • Life assurance

  • Enhanced maternity and paternity pay

  • Employee Assistance Programme

  • Cycle to work scheme

  • Subsidised sports and social club

  • Annual travel and parking loans

  • Financial support for professional development
