Top-ranked employer | High-quality, hands-on work | Real progression
If you’re an NQ solicitor currently sitting in a large team—feeling like just one of many and craving more responsibility, client contact and genuine progression—this is the role designed for you.
This award-winning firm (Top 10 Best Law Firms to Work For; Top 50 UK Best Small Companies to Work For) is expanding its specialist Court of Protection offering and is looking for a driven NQ Solicitor or Legal Executive. You’ll be joining a small, growing team where you’ll work side-by-side with the Head of Department, gaining significantly more exposure and influence than you would in a big, traditional structure.
Why this role is ideal for an ambitious NQ
-
Direct mentorship from a Partner with daily visibility and tailored development—perfect for someone who wants to accelerate their learning curve.
-
High-quality, complex work involving brain-injured and vulnerable clients, with early responsibility and client ownership.
-
Broad exposure across property & affairs deputyships, PI trusts, statutory wills, tax matters and COP applications—far more varied than in larger, siloed teams.
-
A genuine say in shaping and developing a growing department, with clear progression routes as caseloads expand.
-
Hybrid working supported by a people-first culture (Investors in People – Gold Standard).
The Role
Working closely with the Partner, you will:
-
Support on and gradually manage your own Property & Affairs Deputyship caseload, including occasional contentious deputyship matters.
-
Provide clear, compassionate legal advice to clients and families under the Mental Capacity Act and related legislation.
-
Build meaningful client relationships through regular contact in hospitals, homes and care settings.
-
Manage payments, budgets and forward-spending forecasts for clients with complex needs.
-
Draft PI Trusts, Statutory Wills and Court of Protection applications.
-
Supervise and delegate to paralegals/trainees as your responsibility grows.
-
Suggest improvements and be actively involved in shaping the team’s processes and ways of working.
This role suits candidates with prior COP or private client experience, but is equally suitable for NQs from other areas—such as personal injury, clinical negligence, family or litigation—who want to move into Court of Protection work where their transferable skills are highly valued.
What’s on Offer

Competitive Salary + profit share
-
Hybrid working and genuine flexibility
-
A minimum of 25 days holiday
-
Healthcare Cash Plan
-
Enhanced sick pay
