Themis Recruit are seeking a Junior Associate or Associate to join our growing Construction Team on a full-time basis. This role is ideal for a construction law specialist with up to 4 years’ PQE (or equivalent experience).

As part of our clients growing team, you’ll support senior lawyers and manage your own client matters—delivering practical, high-quality legal advice and outstanding client service in line with the firm’s strategic objectives.

Working Model

Our client operates a hybrid working policy, combining home and office working. Their current expectation is a minimum of one day per week in the office, depending on the needs of clients and colleagues.


Our office is conveniently located within easy reach of King’s Cross, Farringdon, and Chancery Lane stations.


Key Responsibilities

Client Management

  • Manage client matters under the supervision of senior lawyers, ensuring all work meets the firm’s quality standards.

  • Provide excellent client care, maintaining confidentiality and security at all times.

  • Keep clients regularly updated on progress and costs.

  • Deliver work efficiently and proactively to meet deadlines and client expectations.

Leadership & Team Support

  • Support and mentor junior staff where appropriate.

  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture.

Practice Development

  • Actively participate in business development activities including marketing initiatives, events, seminars, and tender processes.

  • Draft articles and contribute to the firm’s thought leadership profile.

  • Undertake client secondments when required.

Financial Management

  • Achieve agreed billing and time-recording targets.

  • Work with the Finance team to ensure timely and accurate billing.

  • Monitor performance against personal KPIs.

Professional Standards

  • Comply with all firm policies, procedures and professional regulations.

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with external stakeholders.

  • Adhere to the Solicitors Accounts Rules and the SRA Code of Conduct.

  • Promote equality, diversity and inclusion across all aspects of work.

Professional Development

  • Take ownership of your continuous learning and career development.

  • Meet all SRA training requirements and contribute to internal training where appropriate.


About You

  • Qualified solicitor (England & Wales).

  • Up-to-date knowledge and experience of contentious and non-contentious construction law.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and drafting skills.

  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Confident decision-maker and problem solver with sound commercial judgement.

  • Effective collaborator who contributes to team and cross-departmental projects.

  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision when required.

Desirable:

  • Strong academic background (2:1 degree or equivalent).

  • Experience working with public sector or local authority clients.

  • Prior involvement in business development and marketing activities.

  • Supervisory experience of trainees or junior lawyers.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
