About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Solicitor to join their well-established Housing and Regeneration (Litigation) team. Based at their Manchester office, this is an excellent opportunity for a committed legal professional with housing litigation experience to develop their career within a highly regarded and supportive firm.

Key Responsibilities

You will manage a diverse caseload and contribute to wider team success by:

  • Handling social housing tenancy and leasehold disputes, primarily involving ASB and housing management, as well as residential leasehold and complex matters.

  • Attending hearings in County Court, Magistrates Court (civil jurisdiction), and the First-tier Tribunal, including:

    • Injunction applications (on notice and ex parte)

    • Committal hearings (rota cover included)

    • Directions and case management hearings

    • Trials, where appropriate

  • Providing clear, practical legal advice in both litigated and non-litigated cases.

  • Communicating effectively with clients, opponents, courts, tribunals, and third parties.

  • Delivering value-added services such as legal helplines, surgeries, and client updates.

  • Supporting senior team members with strategic projects and departmental goals.

  • Ensuring compliance with ISO:9001, SRA Principles, and relevant court/tribunal deadlines.

  • Monitoring personal performance and contributing to the supervision and development of junior colleagues.

  • Participating in inter-departmental collaborations and business improvement initiatives.

  • Representing the firm in business development efforts, including client training, legal updates, and publication contributions.


About You

We are looking for individuals who demonstrate the following:

  • Qualified Solicitor or CILEX equivalent (civil advocacy rights essential)

  • Previous experience in social housing litigation is essential.

  • Confident advocacy skills; prior appearance work in court or tribunal is highly desirable.

  • Willingness to travel for court attendances across England.

  • Higher Rights of Audience (Civil) is advantageous but not required.

  • Proven ability to independently manage a caseload and meet fee targets.

  • Strong IT skills, including case management systems and Microsoft Office.

  • Organised, self-motivated, and capable of supervising others effectively.

  • Team-oriented with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
