Key Responsibilities

  • Handle a full caseload of pre-action and post-litigation housing disrepair claims—from instruction to resolution.

  • Comply with Housing Disrepair Pre-Action Protocols and relevant legislation (e.g., Landlord & Tenant Act 1985, Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018).

  • Conduct case investigations: review documentation, gather evidence, and assess liability and damages.

  • Draft letters of claim, pleadings, witness statements, settlement proposals, and court documents.

  • Issue proceedings, negotiate settlements, and, where needed, represent clients at mediations or hearings.

  • Maintain accurate records using our case management tools (e.g., Proclaim or equivalent).

  • Provide compassionate client support and keep clients updated on case progress.

  • Collaborate with colleagues across legal teams, contributing to knowledge-sharing and seamless referrals.

  • Proactively develop your legal skills, including exposure to Family Law cases under mentorship from senior solicitors.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experienced fee earner/paralegal with demonstrable experience in housing disrepair claims.

  • Solid understanding of relevant protocols, statutes, and litigation processes.

  • Ability to manage cases independently and meet deadlines in a remote working environment.

  • Collaborative mindset and eagerness to learn across practice areas.

  • Self-motivated and highly organised.
