The Opportunity

Themis Recruit is working with a well-established specialist claimant law firm in West Didsbury, Manchester, which is looking to appoint a Housing Disrepair Fee Earner to join its growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with at least 1 year’s Housing Disrepair experience who is looking to develop their legal career within a supportive firm that genuinely invests in its people.

Career progression is a major feature of this opportunity. The firm has a strong track record of developing its staff, with training contracts having been offered to numerous employees in the past. For ambitious candidates looking to progress their legal career and potentially qualify as a solicitor, this provides a particularly attractive platform.

The Role

You will manage your own caseload of Housing Disrepair matters, acting for tenants and progressing claims from initial instruction through to settlement or conclusion.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a caseload of Housing Disrepair claims with appropriate supervision and support.
  • Taking instructions and advising clients throughout the lifecycle of their claim.
  • Liaising with landlords, housing associations, local authorities and their representatives.
  • Reviewing evidence and expert reports and progressing matters towards settlement.
  • Negotiating settlements and preparing matters for litigation where required.
  • Maintaining accurate case management records and ensuring compliance with internal procedures.
  • Working towards agreed financial, performance and quality targets.
  • Providing a consistently high level of client care.

About You

We are looking for someone who has:

  • At least 1 year’s experience in Housing Disrepair.
  • Experience managing a caseload of claimant housing matters.
  • Good knowledge of Housing Disrepair and housing conditions claims.
  • Strong communication and client care skills.
  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a wider team.
  • A genuine ambition to develop their legal career.

Paralegals and Fee Earners with relevant Housing Disrepair experience are encouraged to apply.

Why This Role Stands Out

This isn’t simply an opportunity to take on another Housing Disrepair caseload.

The firm has a strong reputation for developing people from within, making it particularly attractive to candidates who want to build a long-term career in law.

There is a genuine progression pathway, and the firm has historically offered training contracts to a number of its existing staff. If you are currently working as a Paralegal or Fee Earner and have ambitions to qualify as a solicitor, this could provide the environment and support needed to take that next step.

You will also benefit from:

  • Competitive salary of £25,000 – £30,000 depending on experience.
  • Monday–Friday working.
  • Established specialist Housing Disrepair team.
  • Structured training and development.
  • Genuine internal career progression.
  • Potential pathway towards a training contract and qualification for the right candidate.
  • Free on-site parking.
  • Company pension.
  • Company events.
  • Supportive and collaborative working environment.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be ambitious, driven and keen to progress rather than simply looking for another fee-earning position.

If you already have Housing Disrepair experience and are looking for a firm where your development is taken seriously — with a proven history of giving its own staff opportunities to qualify — this is an opportunity worth exploring.
