Our client, one of the North-West’s most respected law firms, are seeking a debt recovery officer to join their internal costs team. Full training will be provided, but the ideal candidate should be experienced drafting enforcement proceedings (legal damages and costs) and negotiation of their own legal costs schedule with the aim of ensuring prompt collection of overdue debt as well as maximising recovery of associated legal fees and disbursements.

Reporting to: Costs Draftsman
Requirements
Key tasks (not an exhaustive list):
- Credit control & enforcement of Legal Damages, Costs and Disbursements
- Credit control and negotiation of associated legal fees and expenses.
- Issuing Part 8 Proceedings / making applications
- Preparing N260 schedules
- Liaising with external enforcement officers / bailiffs.
- Any ad hoc or additional duties as required
Personal Skills:
- Knowledge and experience of debt recovery enforcement proceedings
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Robust, determined, and resolute whilst always maintaining a professional and polite demeanour
- Able to keep calm under pressure / does not take things personally
- A confident negotiator, with excellent communication skills, both on the phone and via email
- Ability to work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- IT literate; previous knowledge or experience of a case management system such as Proclaim would be an advantage but is not essential
- Have an ability to adopt a commercial perspective to legal issues.
- Some knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules
