We are thrilled to present a unique opportunity for a Court of Protection professional to join their Private Client department, located in their newly established Newcastle city centre office. In this role, you will be an integral part of the team, providing crucial legal counsel to individuals facing complex situations within the Court of Protection framework.
Role Overview:
As a successful candidate, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Managing the financial affairs and personal welfare of individuals with limited mental capacity under the jurisdiction of the Court of Protection.
- Establishing and maintaining effective communication channels with clients, their families, and relevant stakeholders, such as care providers, benefits agencies, financial institutions, local authorities, and government bodies.
- Offering support to a diverse clientele on issues ranging from financial planning and management to care arrangements.
- Providing comprehensive assistance across a wide range of matters, including liaising with benefits agencies, managing financial matters (including engagement with financial advisors), bill payment, and interaction with social services or care providers.
- Serving as a Court of Protection-appointed Professional Deputy.
- Delivering exceptional client service while handling intricate legal matters within the Court of Protection domain.
- Contributing to business development initiatives within the Private Client team and the broader firm.
Qualifications and Attributes:
The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- Proven experience in acting as a Court of Protection appointed Professional Deputy.
- A track record of collaborating closely with Case Managers, Financial Advisors, and Local Authorities.
- Expertise in Mental Capacity work.
- Ambitious and proactive, with the ability to effectively manage a demanding workload.
- Demonstrated experience in business development and leadership in client matters.
- Proficiency in both collaborative and independent work environments.
- Strong sense of accountability.
- Commercial awareness.
- Exceptional organizational skills and the capability to handle substantial caseloads and projects.
