Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Court of Protection Solicitor with a strong background in handling cases related to serious injury and clinical negligence. This is a unique opportunity to join our dynamic team in Oxford, working with one of the industry’s leading firms. This is a unique role where the department represents protected parties and family members in complex health and welfare proceedings before the Court of Protection and the High Court. They assist in making decisions about their clients’ health and welfare, including Mental Capacity, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults, Judicial Reviews, LPAs, carer’s rights, and issues relating to the Care Act 2014

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of Court of Protection matters, focusing on clients who have experienced serious injury or clinical negligence.
  • Provide expert legal advice and representation to clients, ensuring their best interests are protected.
  • Collaborate with medical professionals, care providers, and other relevant stakeholders to gather evidence and build strong cases.
  • Conduct legal research, prepare legal documents, and represent clients in court proceedings.
  • Stay abreast of developments in relevant legislation and case law.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Qualified solicitor with a minimum of 2 years of experience in Court of Protection, with a specific focus on serious injury and clinical negligence cases.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and a proven track record of successful case management.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to empathise and build rapport with clients.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
