About the Role
Themis Recruit are seeking a Cost Lawyer to join our clients central team in London, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer. This full-time role will involve managing a caseload of cost claims and providing expert advice on costs law across the firm’s various litigious departments. You will play a key role in supporting the firm’s legal teams with cost-related matters in a diverse range of cases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft Points of Dispute and Replies in response to cost claims.
- Assist with the preparation of costs budgets and provide advice on opposing party budgets.
- Advise on retainer agreements and fee arrangements between clients and legal advisors.
- Prepare and advise on claims for costs, including disputes between solicitors and clients.
- Handle your own caseload of cost claims, including negotiating disrepair claims in the Land Tribunal.
- Exposure to a wide variety of cost claims across the firm.
About You
The ideal candidate will have experience in fixed costs and negotiating complex files at a reputable law firm. You will either have completed the Costs Lawyer course or be planning to do so, with full support from the firm.
You will have:
- Strong experience in handling cost claims and disputes.
- A keen eye for data and the ability to create concise reports and written submissions.
- Excellent negotiation skills, particularly in litigation contexts.
- An interest in cost forecasting, planning, and budgeting, with the ability to think laterally about contingencies.
