Themis Recruit are pleased to share an exciting opportunity for an experienced costs advocate to join a leading costs litigation department. The responsibilities include collaborating with colleagues and reporting to our Practice Development Lead on a combination of the following:
- Providing advice on intricate legal technical matters and cost disputes to clients, colleagues, and senior management.
- Drafting legal documents specific to Cost Litigation, such as skeleton arguments, Points of Dispute and Reply, witness statements, applications, and draft orders.
- Preparing and presenting a comprehensive training schedule for both the Costs Litigation department, the Specialist Serious Personal Injury teams, and the wider practice group.
- Managing and supporting the development of team members, fostering continuous learning and improvement of skills.
- Assisting the Practice Development Lead in preparing and implementing the Cost Litigation strategy.
- Attending Detailed Assessment Hearings, Oral Hearings, CCMC’s, and Cost Applications.

Requirements:
- High degree of technical expertise in costs litigation
- A proven track record in an advocacy role
- Ability to develop strong and effective relationships with all stakeholders
- Hands-on, with a “can-do” attitude, demonstrating drive, discipline, patience, and flexibility
- High degree of accuracy, excellent analytical skills and strong attention to detail, but capable of identifying and resolving wider issues
- Well organised with an ability to prioritise and manage conflicting demands effectively
- Clear and influential communicator, able to address different types of audiences in appropriate ways, both written and verbal
- Genuine enthusiasm for providing a high standard of client service and an ability to promote a positive attitude
