Overview

An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Negligence Solicitor to join a highly respected specialist practice in Chelmsford. This is a role suited to a proactive, client-focused lawyer who is keen to develop within a dedicated clinical negligence environment and contribute to securing justice for individuals affected by medical error.

You will work alongside experienced practitioners in a firm recognised for its depth of expertise and long-standing commitment to claimant clinical negligence work across Essex and East Anglia.


Role

You will manage a varied and developing clinical negligence caseload, with matters including:

  • Birth injury claims
  • Surgical negligence
  • Misdiagnosis and delayed diagnosis
  • Delayed or inappropriate treatment cases

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing files from instruction through to resolution
  • Advising clients clearly and empathetically throughout the claims process
  • Drafting witness statements and reviewing medical records
  • Analysing expert evidence and liaising with independent medical experts
  • Instructing counsel where matters progress to litigation
  • Engaging with defendants and insurers to pursue settlement where appropriate
  • Supporting senior solicitors and contributing to wider team case strategy

About You

  • NQ–4 PQE solicitor (or equivalent experience)
  • Clinical negligence experience is advantageous but not essential
  • Strong interest in medical law and claimant work
  • Membership or working towards APIL, AvMA or Law Society clinical negligence accreditation is desirable
  • Empathetic, detail-oriented and confident communicating with vulnerable clients
  • Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail in reviewing medical evidence
  • Collaborative approach with a willingness to support wider team work
