Themis Recruit are seeking a dedicated and experienced Clinical Negligence Solicitor to join our client’s dynamic Personal Injury department. The successful candidate will handle a diverse caseload of clinical negligence claims as well as some Personal Injury experience, providing expert legal advice and representation to clients who have suffered medical malpractice. This role requires a high degree of empathy, excellent communication skills, and a strong legal acumen.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Case Management: Manage a varied caseload of clinical negligence claims from initial instruction through to conclusion, including complex and high-value cases.
  • Client Interaction: Provide clear and empathetic advice to clients, ensuring they are kept informed of the progress of their case and understand their legal rights and options.
  • Investigation and Evidence Gathering: Conduct thorough investigations, including obtaining medical records, instructing medical experts, and analysing evidence to build a strong case.
  • Negotiation and Settlement: Negotiate settlements with defendants and their representatives to achieve the best possible outcome for clients.
  • Litigation: Prepare and issue court proceedings when necessary, representing clients at court hearings and trials.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including maintaining accurate and up-to-date case files and adhering to time limits and procedural rules.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other solicitors, paralegals, and administrative staff to ensure a high standard of client care and case management.
  • Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with developments in clinical negligence law and participate in continuous professional development activities.

Requirements:

  • Educational Background: Qualified Solicitor with a current Practising Certificate.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in clinical negligence law.
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of clinical negligence law, including medical terminology and the legal process for medical malpractice claims.
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload effectively.
    • Proficient in legal research and the use of case management software.
    • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to achieve favourable settlements.
    • High level of empathy and the ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion.
    • Personal Attributes: Detail-oriented, highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
