About the Role
Themis Recruit are seeking a skilled Child Panel Solicitor to join a busy and highly regarded Child Care practice in London. This role offers the opportunity to handle complex and varied cases, provide guidance and supervision to junior colleagues, and make a real impact on the lives of children and families.

You will work closely with parents, grandparents, other family members, interveners, and children, either directly or via CAFCASS-appointed Children’s Guardians, while managing casework from initial advice to court proceedings. You will also support training and development within the team and contribute to the growth of the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a varied Child Care caseload, including Legal Aid/CCMS procedures, Care Orders, Supervision Orders, Emergency Protection Orders, Special Guardianship Orders, Placement Orders, Adoption Orders (including International), Child Protection Conferences, and related family law matters.

  • Provide guidance, supervision, and mentorship to solicitors, trainees, and caseworkers.

  • Draft legal documents including statements, evidence bundles, and court submissions.

  • Attend court hearings and advocate for clients when required.

  • Maintain excellent client care and communication, handling sensitive matters with professionalism.

  • Contribute to business development and growth of the practice through networking and client relationship building.

  • Stay up-to-date with relevant legislation and best practices in Child Care law.

Skills & Experience

  • Accredited Child Panel Solicitor with 5+ years PQE (applications welcome across the full experience range- with no upper limit).

  • Strong experience in managing a varied Child Care caseload in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience in advocacy is beneficial but not essential.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and client care skills.

  • Ability to manage own casework independently and provide support to junior team members.

  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.

  • Familiarity with legal case management systems and Microsoft Office.

  • Ethical, sensitive, and professional approach to working with vulnerable clients.
