The Role:


Themis Recruit are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Solicitor to join our clients Casualty Fraud Team. The successful candidate will manage a caseload of Employers’ Liability (EL) and Public Liability (PL) claims, including both delegated authority fixed fee cases and non-delegated cases, on behalf of several insurance clients. You will work closely with a Technical Support Lawyer to strategise and make liability decisions, as well as contribute to your own technical development. This role demands a forensic and analytical approach to claims, with a strong understanding of the evidence and documents required in fraud-related cases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle and manage a caseload of EL/PL fraud claims, including Pre-action disclosure files, Infant Approval Hearings, and other related cases.
  • Review and respond to Applications for Pre-action Disclosure in accordance with client guidelines.
  • Manage claims in line with client Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Instruct Counsel/advocates and liaise with experts as required.
  • Conduct legal research and review evidence, including medical and personnel records.
  • Manage routine correspondence, investigate claims, and liaise with all relevant parties such as insured parties, claimants, solicitors, and witnesses.
  • Prepare and negotiate draft payments into court, Tomlin Orders, and Consent Orders.
  • Attend conferences and trials with Counsel, taking notes and providing support.
  • Review quantum and draft cost schedules.
  • Handle general or straightforward queries from clients and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with the SRA Standards & Regulations in all aspects of the role.
  • Participate in investigations, including obtaining witness statements and liaising with the insured.

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise:
Essential:

  • Self-confident with excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, particularly in relation to fraud cases.
  • Excellent team player who can collaborate effectively with colleagues.
  • Experience in client care and the ability to work to client guidelines on a delegated basis.
  • Ability to meet performance targets and demonstrate positive client outcomes.
  • Proficient in IT and legal research tools.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in personal injury file handling.
  • Legal education (e.g., ILEX, LPC) or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in handling a caseload of EL/PL claims.
  • Previous litigation experience, especially in fraud cases.
  • Strong advocacy skills.
