The Role
An established and highly regarded personal injury practice is seeking an experienced Associate Solicitor to join its Serious Injury team. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior claimant lawyer to manage a high-value, complex caseload while playing a key role in mentoring colleagues and contributing to the strategic growth of the department.
You will manage a portfolio of serious injury claims, predominantly arising from RTA matters, involving complex liability, causation and quantum issues. Claim values range from £125,000 to multi-million-pound cases, allocated according to experience and technical expertise.
In addition to fee earning, you will act as a senior figure within the team, providing guidance, mentoring and leadership support, and acting as an ambassador for the department internally and externally.
Key Responsibilities
Case Management & Technical Delivery

Manage a complex caseload of high-value serious injury claims as lead fee earner

Deliver exceptional client care to individuals who have suffered life-changing injuries

Progress cases efficiently in line with best practice, procedures and commercial objectives

Analyse evidence and advise on liability, causation and quantum

Draft key legal documents including pleadings, witness statements and schedules of loss

Secure early interim payments and appropriate rehabilitation packages

Maximise settlement outcomes for clients
Client & Expert Engagement

Maintain regular communication with clients, including face-to-face meetings where required

Instruct and collaborate with multidisciplinary experts such as medical experts, case managers, care experts, architects, forensic accountants and counsel
Team Leadership & Mentoring

Provide mentoring and technical support to colleagues within the Serious Injury team

Conduct regular one-to-one meetings, case reviews and technical feedback sessions

Support the Team Manager with embedding new processes and working practices

Motivate and develop team members, addressing performance issues where appropriate
Profile Raising & Business Development

Contribute to the profile and reputation of the Serious Injury department

Support industry engagement through case reporting, articles, testimonials and external involvement

Play an active role in departmental strategy, growth and wider business development initiatives

Person Specification
Essential Requirements

Qualified Solicitor or Fellow of CILEx

Minimum 8 years’ post-qualification experience, or equivalent experience operating at a senior/Grade A level

Proven track record of handling serious injury claims as lead fee earner

Strong technical expertise and in-depth knowledge of litigation and court procedures

Experience mentoring or developing junior colleagues; a collaborative team player and role model

Demonstrable commitment to excellent client care

Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards

Previous supervisory or team leadership experience

Strong negotiation, communication and objection-handling skills

Confident user of case management systems and Microsoft Office (Word & Excel)

Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
