Position Summary:

The successful candidate will assume a pivotal role in managing and drafting legal costs with precision while providing invaluable support in resolving costs disputes. Leveraging their expertise in commercial costs, the successful applicant will bolster the firm’s reputation for excellence.

Responsibilities:

1. Costs Drafting:

• Prepare bills of costs and schedules meticulously and efficiently.
• Interpret fee structures and agreements accurately to reflect costs.

2. Costs Negotiation:

• Engage in negotiations with opposing parties to resolve costs disputes.
• Provide assistance to senior team members during negotiations and alternative dispute resolution processes.

3. Legal Research:

• Stay abreast of changes in costs regulations and legal precedents.
• Conduct research to support cost assessments and offer relevant insights.

4. Excel Proficiency:

• Utilise advanced Excel skills to organise and analyse financial data.
• Develop spreadsheets and financial models to facilitate cost calculations and analysis.

5. Client Interaction:

• Collaborate with clients to understand their specific cost requirements and provide clear explanations.
• Work closely with internal teams to address client concerns and ensure satisfaction.

Qualifications:

• Demonstrable experience as a Costs lawyer in an independent costs practice.
• Commercial costs experience highly desirable.
• Proficient in using Microsoft Excel for complex financial analysis.
• Strong understanding of costs regulations and legal frameworks.
