Our story starts in early 2021, when Barrister Mr. Andrew McKie first launched the firm as McKie Recruit, fueled by a passion for networking and years of experience recruiting for his own law firm.
Mr. McKie laid the foundations for what quickly became a beacon in the legal recruitment space. As the firm grew, so did our reputation for excellence and network that spans the legal profession.
Having now exited the business, Mr. McKie left the reins in the very capable hands of Will Angood and Liam O’Sullivan, who combined have some 13 years experience of working in the legal sector, working alongside industry leading firms.
This leads us to the next chapter in our story- Themis Recruit. With this transition comes a refreshing transformation- a rebranding that mirrors our evolution while preserving the values that define us. Our new name encapsulates the essence of what we stand for, representing a commitment to fostering legal partnerships that endure and thrive.

Why Themis?
In Greek mythology, Themis is the personification of fairness, law, and justice. She is often depicted as a noble and majestic goddess and was held in high esteem by the Olympians for her wise counsel and sound judgement. She was often called upon to mediate disputes and ensure that justice was always served.
Furthermore, Themis was seen as the embodiment of ethical conduct and good governance, providing guidance to mankind on how to live a virtuous and just life. Themis is still used as a symbol of justice in the modern day, and is regularly used in legal contexts, such as the phrase “Rule of Themis”, to refer to the principles of fairness and impartiality that underpin the legal system.
